The Clear Guide: SULFUR SPOT&MASKUpdated 5 hours ago

What is SULFUR SPOT&MASK?

When a breakout needs immediate backup, SULFUR SPOT&MASK is the call. It's a dual-purpose acne treatment that works as both a targeted spot treatment and a mask for areas with acne.

Formulated with 5% Sulfur to treat acne, while Kaolin and Bentonite Clay absorb excess oil and Glycolic and Lactic Acid gently exfoliate. All without any pore-clogging ingredients. It's the product we reach for when something needs to be handled now.

How do I use it as a spot treatment?

  • Cleanse your skin thoroughly first.
  • Apply a small amount directly to areas with acne, avoiding the eye area.
  • Leave on for at least 10 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  • For best results, use at least once a week. If you experience dryness or peeling, use it less often.
  • Do not apply to broken or irritated skin, open wounds, or scars. Apply only to congested areas.

How do I use it as a mask on areas with acne?

  • Cleanse skin thoroughly.
  • Apply an even layer to areas with acne, avoiding the eye area. Do not apply to large areas of the skin.
  • Leave on for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  • Follow with your full routine: CELLRENEW®, HYDRAGLOW™, and SPF in the morning.
  • Use once weekly as a preventative treatment to help keep skin clear of new acne blemishes

Can I use SULFUR SPOT&MASK with CLEARITY®?

Yes. Apply CLEARITY® first and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then apply SULFUR SPOT&MASK to active spots, working around those areas with the rest of your routine. They play different roles: CLEARITY® helps pores look clearer, while SULFUR SPOT&MASK treats the acne itself. Using more than one drying product at a time can increase dryness or irritation. If that happens, use one at a time.

What does sulfur actually do for acne?

Sulfur is a time-tested acne treatment ingredient, and SULFUR SPOT&MASK contains 5%. Glycolic and Lactic Acid gently exfoliate, and Kaolin and Bentonite Clay absorb excess oil to round out the formula.

Will it dry out my skin?

Sulfur and clay are drying by design. That's how they work. When used correctly (on targeted spots or as a brief mask), the drying effect stays where you want it. If you notice overall dryness or peeling, use it less often, and make sure you're following with CELLRENEW® and HYDRAGLOW™ to keep your barrier supported.

Can I leave it on overnight?

We don't recommend leaving SULFUR SPOT&MASK on overnight. The formula is designed for a 10-minute application. Extended wear increases the risk of dryness and irritation without adding benefit.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

SULFUR SPOT&MASK is formulated for acne-prone skin and is suitable for most skin types. That said, sulfur can be drying. If you have very sensitive or dry skin, stick to the 10-minute contact time and use it less frequently. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin under any circumstances.

Is it safe while pregnant?

Every pregnancy is unique, so we always recommend consulting your OBGYN with the full ingredient list before use.

*For external use only. Do not use it on broken skin or large areas of the skin. Apply only to areas with acne. Skin irritation and dryness is more likely to occur if you use another topical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, only use one topical acne medication at a time. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), increasing sun sensitivity and sunburn risk. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure during use and for a week after. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Also avoid irritated skin, open wounds, or scars. Discontinue use if excessive dryness, redness, or irritation occurs.
